Good Norwegian movies don’t come along too often. The Wave (Bølgen, 2015) was not great, but enjoyable. With this movie you know what you’re getting. It is a disaster movie with a hollywood ending.

Geologist Kristian (Kristoffer Joner) is moving from Geiranger, where the movie takes place. When he’s about to leave, he gets a hunch and goes back to warn the people he worked with. They of course do not want to create panic with the people so they just shrug it off. Kristian and his family have to stay the night because they missed the ferry. When the mountain collapses as the Kristian predicted, they all have 10 seconds (for some reason) to get 80 meters above ground. The hero guides people to the right direction and after the wave hits, the movie is predictable as he tries to find the rest of his family.mv5bmji2nduyodgymv5bml5banbnxkftztgwmtm5ndy1mze-_v1_sy1000_sx675_al_

The best part of the movie was the angry danish guy, probably the only unpredictable part of the whole movie.

Should you see this movie? Maybe if you like disaster films (it’s no The Impossible (2012)), geology, or pretty pictures of mountains and fjords.
